Final Project Videos 2011 - Civil Rights
In this unit, students researched a contemporary civil rights movement (Gay Rights, Disability Rights, or Worker's Rights) and created an "Action Plan" to address the issue. They videotaped their actions and created a short documentary of the experience.
The video below is by two students in my bilingual class. These video projects are especially valuable to the bilingual students as they get to practice their spoken English, and hear their own voices in the recordings. For many, they record themselves dozens of times before finishing a section.
Final Project Videos - 2010 Foreign Affairs Unit
During this unit, we studied the similarities and differences between the wars in Afghanistan and Vietnam. The students produced short documentaries including interviews at Ground Zero and in Washington Square Park, attempting to answer our essential question, "Does America live up to its ideals?"
