Student Work Samples
Although I tried to select a representative sample of both bilingual and general education students, and higher and lower level students, the selections still represent but a fraction of the work my students accomplish. Most of our work is done on Google documents, so if you would like to see more work samples, I would be happy to share them. Please email me. Wherever possible, I redacted the individual student names.
DBQ Essays - Formative Assessments - These essays are scanned copies (names redacted) of the baseline and formative tests of a higher and lower level student. Each shows the growth over time that I hope to achieve for my students.
DBQ Essays - In Class - Each unit the students write at least one and up to three DBQ essays that are peer reviewed with multiple drafts. These are two samples from our Civil Rights unit that show students writing from a particular point of view (Democrat and Republican).
Student Videos - For our Civil Rights Unit this year (and our Foreign Affairs units in years past), the students created short documentary films. These are some of the films that won awards at our "Tammy Awards" film festival in school.
Independent Mini Projects - Most of the homework in my class are independent mini projects. Students select from a list of various projects that reach multiple intelligences. The more in depth the project, the greater its value. These projects serve as a way to challenge the higher level students, and support the lower level students.
