Formative Assessment Data (as of April 22, 2012)
The document below contains a spreadsheet of my current students, tracking their progress on writing DBQ essays. As a department, we decided to use the DBQ as the basis for vertically integrating our curriculum. By the end of 8th grade, we want our students to write descriptive and analytical essays that effectively use evidence from a variety of primary and secondary source documents.
In the spreadsheet, the first page has the ability groupings by class. This allows us to break into skill groups by ability to better target individual needs. The other four sheets have the individual results on each of the three "official" assessments, and also in class peer reviewed assessments. After each assessment, the teacher and student conferred to set a specific goal to achieve for the next assessment. The final assessment will happen at the end of May. (All last names were removed for privacy).
